Founded in 2006 by Sue Townsend, this small soap and scent company is inspired by and formulated with the natural materials of Sicily. The most historic and tropical region of Italy with its distinct aesthetics, colors and scents also forms the inspiration for all Ortigia products. Ortigia refers to a small island near the Sicilian coast with both baroque and Oriental elements, thanks to its close proximity to Africa and the influences of a tropical climate and of different colonized countries that have left their marks. Natural perfumes - distilled from Sicilian flowers and created by perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi - and natural ingredients, like olive oil, vegetable glycerin and colors form the base for the Ortigia selection in our online shop. All the products are created and handmade by small family companies and the striking packaging is designed by the owner itself, Sue Townsend.
