1. Where does linen come from?

Linen is made from fibers derived from the flax plant. This strong plant requires little water and pesticides during the production process, which ensures a more sustainable production process. Products made of pure flax are completely biodegradable or recyclable and because of its fibre strength, linen garments often last for years.

2. What are the advantages of linen?

Most women will answer that it’s comfortably breezy to wear. Vegetable materials are known for their cooling and highly absorbent properties, a great advantage for Summer clothing. However, if you ask us? We would say that linen garments offer that typical and natural looking texture we cannot compare with any other fabric. Furthermore, linen is a strong fabric with a high abrasion resistance which benefits the garment’s fit – not a minor detail.

3. How do you care for linen?

During the first times of washing, colored linen can bleed. Therefore, we advise to wash it separately the first couple of times and to use 1dl natural vinegar to maintain its color. Linen can be washed at a low temperature to a maximum of 40°C. Don’t put linen items in the dryer and let them hang to dry in a shady environment to prevent shrinkage and discoloration. 

4. How do you ensure that your linen garment creases less?

While some find that the wrinkles emphasize its authenticity and high quality, others see it as the main downside of linen. To make sure linen stays wrinkle-free for a longer period of time, we recommend ironing the garment while it’s still damp – without steam and on the inside of the fabric. Another way to make linen wrinkle less – without using an iron – is by using the Laundress’ Crease Release spray. Even when wearing the garment, you can smooth out minor wrinkles.
