Washing too often is not only bad for the environment and your energy bill, your clothes don’t like it either. Especially with natural fibers, airing is often sufficient. So always try that first. Is washing inevitable? Make sure to not only sort by color, but also by weight – and for the perfectionists also by type of fabric. Washing heavy garments like jeans together with an ultra-fine jersey Tee is guaranteed to cause wear and eventually even holes. Use a laundry bag to protect your most delicate garments. Preferably air dry! And last but not least, invest in a detergent without synthetic ingredients. Your clothes will thank you later.

Just like us humans, your garments also appreciate some space. An overflowing wardrobe might damage your clothes more than you think. Fibers need space to ‘breathe’ to avoid smell, but they also will loose its shape as showed by the garment’s fit in the long run. For example, jeans can still serve as shorts and – if you get really creative – you can even sew two garments together and combine them into one unique item.
