IDEAL (The Netherlands)
iDEAL is an internet payment service offered to Dutch consumers by four large Dutch Banks. Initially, it is developed for internet payments in the Netherlands but there are no technical restraints to use this service abroad as well. The service acts as an intermediary between consumers and internet shops. Using the internet to check your bank account or to transfer money to other accounts has become custom in the Netherlands and therefore, the iDEAL service seems a logic follow-up to the internet banking services that already existed.
